The Descendents' first full-length album, Milo Goes to College (1982), had been so named because singer Milo Aukerman was departing the band to attend college he enrolled at El Camino College for one year, then attended the University of California, San Diego from 1983–85, where he studied biology. The second verse, the child is 14, "You're in the car on the way to the movies/And you're mortified your mom's dropping you off/But don't make her drop you off around the block/Remember that she's getting older too". In the first verse she talks about a little baby, "Your little hand's wrapped around my finger".
